01 → ArchitectureFLOWING

FLOWING is a collective housing project that transforms the end of Hsinchu’s Longen Canal into a public-facing residential environment.

The design draws inspiration from the fluidity of the canal and uses flowing geometry to guide circulation, frame views, and create dynamic spatial sequences. The ground floor hosts public programs such as a community library, gym, café, and outdoor plaza, while the upper levels provide collective residences that remain visually connected to the green belt.

The housing mass is divided into two buildings, generating a canyon like public walkway between them. A six meter structural frame sets the base rhythm, which is then bent and deformed to produce a continuous flow along the canal. Private rooms are placed on the outer edges to ensure natural light and views, while shared amenities such as a pool, library, and garden fill the inner canyon.

The interplay between bending frames and wrapped spatial volumes creates a fluid living environment that merges landscape movement with architectural form.
